October is National Medicine Abuse Awareness Month. Get the facts.
More than 1/2 of Rx drug users get medicine from family or friends. Not drug dealers. #PreventRxAbuse
Partner with Coalition Rx to end prescription and OTC medicine abuse!
Coalition Rx seeks to inform the community inform parents, kids and educators about the dangers of prescription drug abuse. The easy availability of prescription drugs versus illegal narcotics has seen the use and abuse of such pharmaceuticals skyrocket. As a prescription medication is intended to heal, it is all too easy to forget their misuse can have tragic, long-lasting consequences.
Coalition Rx seeks to inform parents, kids and educators about the dangers of prescription drug abuse. The easy availability of prescription drugs versus illegal narcotics has seen the use and abuse of such pharmaceuticals skyrocket. As a prescription medication is intended to heal, it is all too easy to forget their misuse can have tragic, long-lasting consequences. We help remind those most at risk to always remember the danger.
Coalition Rx works with state and local governments and regulatory agencies to help guide public policy as it pertains to prescription drug abuse. Part education and part advocacy, we work to make the dangers of prescription medication known to those in positions of authority – those whose decisions can impact the fight against this epidemic.
The mission of Coalition Rx is to reduce the misuse of prescription and non-prescription medicines by partnering with communities to raise awareness, provide community and professional education, prevention and treatment resources and public policy advocacy.
Who We Are
In 2010, Dillon Hayes, a Millard North sophomore died of a prescription drug overdose in his home. So in 2010, Dillon’s House was formed in response to the need to “bring home the truth about prescription drug abuse”, and intentionally educate and inform the community on the dangers of prescription (Rx) drug abuse and misuse. From 2010 to 2014, requests for Dillon’s House (DH) presentations skyrocketed as individuals, schools and organizations across Nebraska sought out Dillon’s House for reliable, relevant and real-time information related to the challenges, overdoses and Rx deaths that were happening in their local communities. Birthed out of this greater community need, Coalition Rx was formed in November 2014, as a responsive, community-action organization.
Guided by the principle of Integrity in advocacy; fueled by Innovative Best Practices and committed to Action-Oriented Collaboration Coalition Rx advocates on behalf of the community to end prescription drug abuse.
